Mysterious Interview by Evierobbie
Mysterious is the type of artist that sheds light on his darker sides through music. He reveals pieces of who he is through his art. He explains, "Music is the best way for me to express myself. Writing is therapeutic for me. When I'm angry, sad, and mad, it's a good way to reach people. If you show them what you went through, maybe you can reach the next person. Most of all it's the best way to get everything off my chest, so I'm not walking around with my head all twisted." Simply put, it's what he does. It's who he is.
Mysterious grew up on Long Island, yet has lived and performed all over New York. His movement leaves him free from repping any particular area in the tri-state. Though his main lyrical influence is from Queens, none other than Nas.
He's been in the rapping game for nearly a decade. At sixteen, he started tapping into the idea of writing rhymes. It wasn't until he was twenty-one years old that he began to take it seriously. Presently, at twenty-eight he is becoming the master of his destiny.
In a saturated industry he finds that his biggest challenge is being different. He stated, "Everyone has the same way of trying to get into the game. Whether it's trying to get CDs to the A&R, or worrying about what the people are going to think about your writing. Instead, you have to write directly from self." In order to fight this monotony, Mysterious just doesn't worry about how people are going to portray him. His claim to being different lies in his lyrics. He says, "Lyrically, I'm very versatile. I have all types of styles and flows. My image is what you see, is what you get."
Mysterious has just released a mixed tape entitled "The 1st Offering" in conjunction with Ownlane. He's also dropped a single called "Hip Hop I Love You". He's currently working on a new album that incorporates international collaborations. He also has an airbrushing partnership and can be reached at myspace.com/mysterious.
